Minjiang University is based in Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian Province. In 2002, with the approval from the Ministry of Education, Minjiang University began to offer full-time bachelors degree programs. Minjiang University is an amalgamation of Fuzhou TeachersCollege, established in 1958, and Minjiang Vocational College, established in 1984 (including Fuzhou Academy of Arts and Design merged in 2001).

Minjiang University has a glorious past. Presient Xi Jinping once served as the President of Minjiang Vocational College for 6 years (June 1990 - May 1996) when he took the position as the Secretary of the CPC Fuzhou Municipal Committee. During his tenure, he propounded the philosophy of seeking to be the best instead of the biggest, and to adapt to the needs of societyand the principles of building a locally based and market-oriented institution with a focus on quality and practicability of education, which have now guided Minjiang University to determine orientations, make plans and decisions, overcome difficulties and take practice actions for its reform and development.

After more than 60 years of development, Minjiang University has grown into an influential application-oriented university with a complete disciplines and satisfactory education quality. It has 15 colleges that offer MBA program and bachelors degree programs in all the eight major disciplines, covering economics, law, liberal arts, history, science, engineering, management and art.

Minjiang University currently enrolls approximately 16,000 full-time students, with a faculty of more than 1,000, among which 45.13% hold a doctorate degree.

Minjiang University has a total area of 2,294.6 mu(1.53 km?), with 621100 of building area. The University owns 534 million yuans worth of equipment for teaching and research, 2.0802 million paper-based books and 2.2613 million e-books.

Minjiang University insists on running in an open-up way. Minajing University establishes friendly cooperation with more than 40 universities in the United States, Japan, Australia, Canada and other countries; works with European University Cyprus to establish the International Digital Economy College of Minjiang University, a Sino-foreign cooperative institution.
