The Software College of Minjiang University now offers 3 undergraduate programs: Software Engineering (software services, financial services, network security and operation & maintenance, new media technology, VR, big data application technology), Computer Science And Technology (VR/AR game development technology), Visual Communication Design (VR/AR digital display art), of which the program of Software Engineering (big data application technology) is established under the cooperation of universities in Fujian and Taiwan. Currently, there are more than 1,400 students in the College.

The College is committed to training talents in adherence to the schooling philosophy of Minjiang University to “seek the best rather than the largest, and meet the needs of society” and the “Fuzhou-based, market, quality and application oriented” principle. It has so far cultivated more than 13,000 graduates with the annual employment rate exceeding 92%. Outstanding graduates have been recruited by large enterprises such as Microsoft (China), Chinasoft International, NetDragon Websoft, and Newland. Many graduates have become the core force of software enterprises in and outside the Fujian province.

In addition, the College has established cooperation with many well-known IT companies such as Microsoft (China), Pactera (China), NetDragon, Newland, YLZ Information Technology, CTFF, SHINE Technology, and Linewell Software, building and improving the training system of application-oriented talents covering course practice, project training, enterprise customization and innovation incubation. One third of courses offered by the College are taught by front-line expert engineers in enterprises and institutions. In terms of professional training, a double-spiral progressive practice system based on project learning (PBL) has been implemented to simulate the real development environment of enterprises, aiming to strengthen students’ professional skills.

Guided by the “13th Five-Year Plan” and “Digital China” policy, the College is devoted to evolving into a demonstration base for the cultivation of application-oriented IT talents in the Southeast Region, and a paradise of autonomous learning, healthy growth, and entrepreneurship & innovation for students. Taking the digitalization of government affairs, medical care and finance as the orientation, the College has been exploring an innovative model of talent training characterized by open schooling, pilot programs and university-enterprise integration, and striving to build a high-level, distinctive, deeply integrated and application-oriented software demonstration college, while fulfilling the responsibilities of personnel training, scientific research, social services and cultural inheritance, so as to serve the country and people, as well as meet the needs of economic and social development and digital transformation in Fuzhou and Fujian Province.
