I. Application Requirements

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens between the ages of 18 and 30 in good health, and hold a valid ordinary foreign passport.

Note: In accordance with NATIONALITY LAW OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA Article 5. Any person whose parents are both Chinese nationals and have both settled abroad, or one of whose parents is a Chinese national and has settled abroad, and who has acquired foreign nationality at birth shall not have Chinese nationality. Starting from 2021, students who apply for admission to the undergraduate program as international students should meet other eligibility requirements of the university and hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for at least 4 years (including 4 years). The applicant should have lived in any country other than China for more than 2 years in the last 4 years (before April 30th of the year of enrollment)

 (If the passport holder actually lives abroad for 9 months in a year, it will be calculated as one year, subject to entry and exit stamps).

2. Applicants must have high school diploma and good grades.

3. Applicants must have Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 4 or above or equivalent. High school graduates who are mainly taught in Chinese during their secondary school days can apply for exemption of HSK certificate when applying for undergraduate programs, and provide relevant supporting documents.

III. Application Procedures

1. Download the International Student Admission Application Form from the website of Minjiang University (https://www.mju.edu.cn/Eng/Undergraduate/list.htm)

2. Fill in the International Student Admission Application Form and email it to the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange ( Email address: dwc@mju.edu.cn ) together with other application documents (photocopy or picture), or send paper documents to the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Minjiang University (See the address under Section X).

 

IV. Application Documents

1. International Student Admission Application Form (in Chinese or English)

2. Photocopy of high school diploma (notarized copy of Chinese or English version) and academic transcripts of high school;

3. Photocopy of personal ordinary passport (valid for the following three years at least)

4. Photocopy of HSK certificate

5. Personal statement, including impressions on China and Minjiang University and personal study plan (in English or Chinese)

6. A letter of recommendation (picture or scanned version, which can be issued by the original school)

7. Photocopy of health certificate (physical examination record)

8. Financial evidence (the bank statement of the immediate family member for the past six months)

Please e-mail the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, or send the university all the documents mentioned above in the said order. False or missing documents will not be accepted, and the above documents submitted in paper will not be returned to applicants no matter whether they are admitted or not.

VI. Admission and Registration

1. We adopt the “application review system” for selection and admission of international students based on the application documents submitted by the applicants, including academic achievement, language proficiency, personal statement and recommendations.

2. We will notify the applicants of the admission results within two months after receiving all the documents from the applicants. The Admission Notice and other documents will be sent out in July 2021.

3. Applicants who have been enrolled should take the Admission Notice and Visa Application for Study in China (Form JW202) in person to the Chinese Embassy (or Consulate) stationed abroad to apply for X visa.

4. Applicants who have been admitted should register in our university with the Admission Notice, Visa Application Form for Study in China (Form JW202) and other relevant original documents on the date specified in the Admission Notice and pay the registration and tuition fees. Anyone who cannot register by the specified date due to special circumstances should contact us in advance, and the enrollment can be deferred after having been permitted. Under normal circumstances, a new academic year of our university starts in September of each year.

5. We will provide one-time free pickup service for freshmen who have been admitted. Please inform us the detailed arrival itinerary of your trip in written form (by email) in advance.

 

VII. Educational System and Degree Awarding

Educational system: 4 years; Length of schooling: 4-6 years;

Students are required to accomplish the credits required by the teaching plan, complete the dissertations (project) and pass the thesis defense successfully. Students who fulfill the graduation requirements will be qualified to graduate and awarded the undergraduate diploma, and students who meet the bachelor’s requirements will be conferred with Bachelor’s Degree.

 

VIII. Charging Standard

1. Tuition:

Liberal Arts: 14,000 yuan/academic year

Science & Engineering: 15,500 yuan/academic year

2. Accommodation fee: Double room (with independent bathroom, air conditioner, water heater, etc.), 2,600 yuan/academic year

3. Other fees:

After arriving at the university, students need to pay such fees as campus card deposit, medical examination fee and residence permit fee. The specific fees are subject to the actual prices.

4. Living cost: Living costs are to be borne by students themselves

 

IX. Scholarships

1. Fujian Provincial People’s Government has set up the International Student Scholarship Program, which includes tuition and accommodation fees (the duration of scholarship is 1 academic year). Applicants can submit a written application to their respective colleges. We will select the candidates for scholarship from the applicants on merit and submit to the Education Department of Fujian Province for final review.

2. We have established scholarship for international students, including tuition and accommodation fees. After completion of admission procedures and payment of relevant fees every academic year, students can submit a written application to their respective colleges, and the scholarship will be offered after approval of the university.

3. If any winner of the above scholarships violates the laws and regulations of China, or/and the rules and discipline of our university, we have the right to terminate their eligibility for scholarships or suspend part of the scholarships.
